Evening news

After Dr. Souf left, Shell was even more determined to get moving. Sat up twice and walked once to the door of her room. Needless to say, that took a lot out of her and she was in lots of pain tonight. Was given pain medication and was able to settle for night.

I just wanted to share with you something Shell did before her surgery, that shows her love for her family.
I took her to the hospital and stayed with her until she was wheeled into the operating room. When I got home I found a beautiful card to which she had inscriped:

To my beautiful family.
Please take a deep breath and help each other out...even if you are not asked to help.
Please remember to say "I love you" and give a hug...it doesn't cost a thing.
Please remember I love you....have a great lunch today,work out....stay busy,stay together,stay strong!
Thank you-for you,your prayers-your strength!
Can't wait to see you.
Love Mom xoxo

Then you wonder why her children love her so much.

Bob

  3. Wow, Shell, you are so strong, I know you'll make it through this and continue on being the amazing and beautiful mother that you are. Thanks for everything you've done for Aly's friends, including myself and the ride to the Owl a couple weeks ago! Love you so much.

  4. Typical Shelley. Always thinking of everyone else. We are all so lucky to have her in our lives.
And way to go Shelley getting up and around last night! I can just picture your gritty determination to get the job done! Might I suggest a nip of gin (at least 25 years old) to keep you charged?? We could keep a bottle by the door just to make sure you go at least that far a few times a day!!

  7. Dear Blog Star Bob.
Sanks a bunch for keeping us updated. I can only imagine that it is probably the last thing you want to do at the end of a very tiring day.
You are our connection to our girl so what you do is appreciated more than you will ever know.

  8. Shelly, Bob and Family,
This truly does show how isolated we can all become even when we are close. We live across the street and didn't even know that you were all going through so much. I heard about your surgery at work, imagine that.
I just want you all to know that we are thinking of you and if you need anything at all just let us know, we are here, and we are close by. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, and we know you are a fighter and will get through this.

  9. Hi Shelley

Just a quick note to let you know we are all thinking of you, Bob and the kids! Having survived my own bout with Cancer I have empathy for some (not all) of the emotions you are all going through. I know you are a fighter and your faith and your family will carry you through this difficult time.
All our thoughts and prayers....The Parkers

  11. Shell, Bob and Kids.
I knew that challenging things were unfolding in your household but until I saw the blog this morning I did not know the extent of the challenge.
Thank-you for continuing to be a family of faith in a real time setting.
After reading the blog today I have been able to put some of the things that I thought were spoiling my day into perspective.
God will continue to strengthen you as the hours, days and weeks unfold.
Remember whose you are as the healing grows.
